A group of friends brought together by two great men
Their friendship forever going--or so they thought.
As they grew old together they realized the end-
These two great men would leave the group of friends
Only to lead the group of friends to destruction
They knew it would come, and they wanted to fight
But weak, they were, and it all went down the drain
The group of friends refers to my group of friends over in Vegas, and the two great men are me and TAB. Hahaha.

"Joy Of Service"
I gave a talk on the "Joy Of Service" in sacrament meeting today, and it went well. I would even go as far to say that it was my best talk out of the 8+ I have given. I am getting to the point where I am really comfortable speaking in front of a lot of people and what not. The Spirit was definitely with me as I spoke, too, which was just great.
It's just crazy to think that I'll only be speaking once or twice more before I give my farewell talk next year. Yikes! 0_0 I am really excited, though.
But alas! If anyone wants to read my talk, just let me know, and I'll e-mail it to you. Even though a lot of what I wrote down, I didn't actually say. And a lot of what I didn't write down, I DID say. What I wrote down on paper is still pretty good, though, so just let me know if you want to read it. ;) (Copying and pasting it onto the blog is just a pain, because you have to go back and edit a bunch of stuff, etc.)

More Emotional Days
I think it's one of the hardest things in the world: Saying goodbye to a sibling, a very best friend.
Today is my last day with my fine brother, Matthew Brien Nelson. He will be missed by all, and things just aren't going to be as fun around here anymore.
I take the title as "oldest sibling in the household" again, and I hope to continue getting better at that. I'm actually a little bit excited for it this time around, because last time I was the oldest, Luke, Timmy, Logan, and I had some good good times. It's weird to think that I will only be holding the title for about another year before Timmy takes it.

My Good Friend Scott
I had to interview Scott today in English, and then we had to write an introduction to read to the class tomorrow. I wrote the following:
Scott Daniel Oehler, age sixteen, is one of the best high school trumpet players in the state of Nevada. He is a two-time all-state and honor band member, and will most likely make the two bands again this year.
Two of Scott’s weirdest friends are in this room. “My two weirdest friends are Ben Nelson and Tara Richards,” Scott says. “They both always have something crazy and weird to say.” Scott openly admits that he wouldn’t mind being as weird as his two friends.
One of Scott’s dreams for the future is to go to Brigham Young University, and then he wants to become a dentist. When asked who inspired him to want to be a dentist, Scott replied, “My Dad. He became a dentist a few years ago, and I think it would be a sweet job.”
Scott’s all-time favorite food is lasagna and steak. While Scott enjoys eating apples and bananas, he admits that he is not a big fan of vegetables.
For the most part, Scott enjoys being in school; he enjoys talking to friends and learning about cool stuff, but he hates the concept of doing homework. Scott’s favorite day of the school year is the day before Christmas break; he also enjoys three-day weekends.

Senior Year (So Far) + The Rest of This Week
Just to let y'all know...
Senior year is coming along fine. I am taking four classes, and it's good to get out nice and early. My classes and teachers are great, and I am happy about that. Seminary is better than ever, and I am really looking forward to learning about the New Testament this year.
I was thinking about it just a few minutes ago, and I realized that this school year is going to fly by. Quick. It's still weird for me to think about how soon I am going to be an adult. I don't really want to grow up, but I've pretty much given in and realized that it's all part of our journey here on Earth. So alas, in other words...I am a bit nervous about growing old, but at the same time I am looking forward to it.
Tonight and last night have been pretty boring/plain for me. I've finished my homework before 6 PM both nights, and then it left me with nothing else to do afterwards. However, I am looking forward to the next for days. Check it out:

Wednesday: Stake youth activity in Boulder City. Should be great; I am looking forward to the sand volleyball tournament.
Thursday: Babysitting the Brunson's kids. Those kids are always so great and fun, and I am looking forward to watching them again.
Friday: Our high school football season begins. FINALLY. I am really looking forward to it. We're playing a team from California, and they are really good. We'll most likely lose, but I don't care. Football is football.
Saturday: Even better. BYU's football season starts. BYU is nationally ranked this year, and they are supposed to be one of the best teams in the country. I am excited to see how they will handle all the hype! :) I also have a birthday party to go to on Saturday night, and that should be fun.

Senior Pics! :)
It's weird to be a Senior, but this year has potential to be a pretty great year. My good friend Scott is in three of my four classes. That makes up for last year when we had no classes together. Anyways...It's good to have him around more this year.
But yeah--the reason I am writing this blog is to show everyone the senior pics that my sister took while she was here. Enjoy! :)
Back To School Letter
Dear Friends,
So I started this tradition a few years ago where I write all my friends right before school starts. I was planning on doing this last night, but my computer crashed, and I spent my night fixing it, rather.
Like my good friend Jared Brummett, I just wanted to wish everyone good luck this year and what not. I know everyone dreads school and what not, but high school can be really great if you let it be great. But I am sure we all know that.
I challenge everyone to make the Gospel a priority in your life. I know from personal experience that it'll make a difference. My freshman and sophomore years were really miserable for me because I didn't exactly participate in seminary the way I should have. My younger friends, don't make the same mistake I did. Don't sleep during seminary, etc.
All my senior friends...Remember two things:
A)Drama is for teen-agers.
B)You aren't a teen-ager anymore.
Maintain a positive attitude, my friends. It's so much easier for Satan to get to us if we are negative. I also know this from personal experience.
My friends, I love you, and I appreciate the great memories you guys have provided with me the last few years. It's been great, and it's really sad to think that this is my last year with everyone before I go on my mission.
I hope everyone has a safe and exciting school year! :)
