Senior Prom (Part 1)

Tonight, I asked one of my best friends (Erin Kiffe) to Prom. Now, you see, Erin graduated last school year, and so I decided to bring her back to her high school years.

"How?" you might ask. Well, I simply made her a time machine, had her go through it, and THEN I asked her. It's late now, but to make a long story short: She loved it. And I will let all the pictures tell the rest. :) Good night, World!

Sweet Motha Beard!

The below video won't make any sense to anyone except for me, my friend Jeffrey, and my friend Walter. This is for them!

But I hope everyone enjoys it anyways. :)

The iPod Miracle

Once upon a time, my iPod went corrupt after I dropped it on the floor.

I tried for many hours to fix it, but I had no luck. But then an idea came to my mind.

"I shall drop it on the floor until it works again," I told myself.

And so I dropped it the first time. It still didn't work.

I dropped it the second time; no luck.

I banged the iPod on my desk; nope.

I said a prayer in my heart as I dropped the iPod on the floor for the fourth and last time.

I connected the iPod to my computer, and all of the sudden it worked again.

"Wow," I thought. "It truly is a miracle to behold."

Neb and Gem's: Fredwick Conquers The Eye (FINAL)

I am happy to announce that I have completed my latest story Fredwick Conquers The Eye. It has been fun making it the last week and a half. Half of that time was simply just making the cover, but that is okay--because that was my favorite part. :) The story is 20 pages including the title page, but it should be 21. You see--I accidently saved over Page 18, and I am really bummed about that because it was my favorite page. However, I already presented the story to Megan (without realizing a page is missing), and it seemed to work without it, so...All ended well!
With that said...I hope everyone enjoys this tiny little story. :)

Neb and Gem's: Fredwick Conquers The Eye (Sneak Peek!)

For those of you who are itching to get the rest of this story...Here is a little sneak peek that'll have to keep you entertained until the whole story is complete in the near future! So far I have ten pages done, and I plan on finishing it sometime late this week/early next week. Stay tuned!

BDN Update (4-21-09): Standing On The Bridge

Well, I just thought I would take some time and update everyone on my life.

It's really starting to feel like summer time here in Vegas. As hot as it is here, I really do love the summer time here, and it is sad to realize that this will be my last one here until 2012. But I am excited at the same time. :) Fifteen more days until I start filling out mission papers!

I have never been so sick and tired of school. Part of me wishes that I would have just graduated early because senior year so far has totally not been worth it--to me, it was beginning to seem like a waste of time more than anything. However, the last few weeks have been great, and I think it'll end up being a great final year of school in the end. I just got graduation announcements, and that is exciting because that means graduation is right around the corner!

Other than mission and school, I have just been up to a bunch of random stuff. I have been helping out in the daycare, tutoring my friend McCall, and babysitting the Brunsons--all as usual.

Since most of my senior friends are busy, I have enjoyed being the oldest kid in our ward and hanging out with freshman, sophomores, and even my eighth grade friend Charlie. Charlie is a huge BYU fan, and he and I had a good time at Youth Conference this last weekend. He and I teamed up with my friends Megan and Levi for most of the activities, and I would have to say that canoeing was my favorite adventure. The water was cold, but it was a lot of fun to tip the canoe over.

We had a fireside at the house on Sunday, and we watched The Testaments in the gameroom. It was great! A lot of the youth in my ward hadn't seen it before, and it was great to see the spirit touch so many of them. Oh, and it's also been great to see how my good influence has impacted the younger youth in my ward. I'm not trying to be cocky and say I am perfect or anything, but a lot of the younger youth in my ward have been coming up to me and saying how much they have changed since they have been hanging out with me. It just makes you feel good, ya know?

Tara is doing well, and she is inching closer and closer to baptism! I am so proud of her, and it is so awesome to see the Gospel come into a friend's life. The missionaries said that I could baptize her, and I am totally looking forward to it! As of now, the baptism is set for May 16, and I am so excited for Tara!

And that is all for now! Stay tuned; the next few months are gonna be an adventure!

Utah (Again)!

Well, I am writing to just let everyone know that Logan, Timmy, and I made it up here to Utah safely. It was a long and tiring drive, as I woke up at 5 AM to watch the sunrise with some friends this morning.

But alas! We made it, and we will be here until Saturday. Spring Break FTW!!!!

Another interesting note: I am posting this via my Wii and a USB keyboard. Pretty sweet!!

General Conference

Dear Friends,

I really enjoyed General Conference this April. This was the first year I completely watched all five sessions; I usually watch the first session of the day and fall asleep during the second session. ;) However, this year I decided to sit down and watch it opposed to watching it from the comfort of my bed. I took twenty-three pages of notes in my journal, and I really feel that I learned a lot. We are extremely blessed to have General Conference weekend twice a year. It is pretty cool to realize that next time General Conference will literally be weeks before my mission. :)
I really hope that everyone took the time to listen/watch as much of conference as they could, and I hope everyone learned and felt the spirit just as much as I did.

My favorite talks from each session:

A. Saturday (Morning Session)
1.Sister Lifferth's talk on respect and reverence. She mentioned, "Reverence for God is strengthened as we have respect for others." It is so true! She also said to truly feed the Lord’s sheep we “must always cultivate respect for each other and reverence for God.”
2.President Eyring's talk on always relying on the Lord to overcome Adversity. He advised, "Do all that you can to be worthy of God's help." He also states, “Tragedy should test our faith—not erode it.”
B. Saturday (Afternoon Session)
1.Elder Ballard's talk on learning from the past. He taught, "If you are open to the Spirit, you will understand the lessons of the past." He also explained that each generation is supposed to get more righteous as they learn from the mistakes that their parents and grandparents made.

2.Elder Nelson's talk on prayer. I loved how he talked about all of the Lord's prayers in the New Testament and in the Book of Mormon; I found that especially interesting! Elder Nelson taught, "If we really care for others, we should pray for them." He also added, "Our prayers can be enhanced by fasting."

C. Saturday (Priesthood Session)
1. President Uchtdorf's talk about "The Story of The Light Bulb." President Uchtdorf taught us that we should "focus on what matters most--not on what matters at the time." Heavenly Father is seeking for those who can say the following with convidence, "I am doing a great work and cannot come down."

2. President Eyring's talk about being brave and bold. President Eyring taught us to "be brave and bold in Priesthood service." He added, "This is not a time of peace. The war will become more violent and the Lord's casuality will mount...Our comrades are being harmed all around us; it is our job as Priesthood Holders to help these brethren."

D. Sunday (Morning Session)
1. Elder Snow's excellent talk on change. Elder Snow observed, "Too often we are reluctant to begin the next challenge." He then gave us the following advice: (1)follow the Prophets, (2)keep an Eternal perspective, (3)have faith, and (4)be of good cheer! He explained, "Through these four things, you can overcome life's challenges."

2. President Monson's talk on focusing on the blessings of the Gospel. President Monson gave us the following advice: "Turn your thoughts away from the digressing world; rather, focus on the blessings we receive from the Gospel. Faith in the Gospel, along with the Savior, will give you the strength you need." He ended his talk by saying, "Our knowledge of our Heavenly Father will comfort us and sustain us. The future is as bright as our faith."

E. Sunday (Afternoon Session)
1. Elder Oaks's inspiring talk on unselfish service. He reminded us of the word's of President Hinckley's father: "Forget yourself and go to work!" He reminded us that "life is about what we can become. If we do unselfish service, Christ promises us Eternal Life." He also related the following advice to us: "When you go to church, don't only go for yourself; go to make a positive difference on other people's lives!"

2. Elder Watson's talks on our wonderful Latter-Day Prophets. He talked about what the last few Prophets of the Church have accomplished and what they have taught us. He also advised us to "be strong, never give up, and endure to the end!"

The Death Of BDN's Facebook

It is true. I am getting rid of my Facebook, and I will miss it. Facebook has been what I do with my free-time the last two years, and I always enjoyed using it to keep in contact with old friends and family.

However, the last few months, I have found Facebook.com to be a huge distraction to me. Not only is it that I use it WAY too much, but it is also because some of the things going on on Facebook have been bothering me, and I would even go as far to say that it has been making me a little sad lately. (HINT: Girls and the confusion they inflict on my heart; haha.)

Anyways...No matter what the reason, I am almost 100% certain my decision will benefit me greatly. I explained in a message I sent out to all my Facebook friends:

Dear World,

After thinking about it long and hard for the past few days, I have decided to get rid of my Facebook.

Facebook has been really great the last two years, but it has been a huge distraction to me the past few months. And I can’t afford to have big distractions like that as I continue to prepare to serve an LDS mission later this year.

Again, I have nothing against Facebook, and I plan on coming back to Facebook.com when I return home from my mission.

If you really, really want to talk to me, you can contact me here:

E-mail:
sirbenjalot@hotmail.com
AIM/AOL: sirbenjalot610
Windows Live Messenger:
sirbenjalot@hotmail.com
Phone: (702) 564-8580

Also, I would love to have everyone’s e-mail address so that we can all keep in touch the last 6-7 months before I go on my mission. If fact, you MUST send me e-mail addresses and mailing addresses so that I can go ahead and write everyone’s name down so I can write everyone while I am on my mission.

I will be officially deleting my Facebook on April 12, 2009. Until then, feel free to contact me on Facebook or whatever else you want to do. :)

Yours Truly,
BDN
